Digital Drama in the C-Suite

In August 2014, our report, Leadership and Digital Leadership are Becoming One and the Same, identified the most important sources of digital leadership advantage and described the many ways in which digital leadership differs significantly from traditional business leadership.

This second phase of digital leadership research explores the Digital drama now unfolding within the senior ranks of the firm. The objective is to provide CEOs and other C-suite members with options, recommendations and actions with which to develop the digital leadership needed at the highest levels of their organizations.

This video describes the rise of digitization today, the drama unfolding in the C-suite and the different strategies organizations are employing to deal with it.

Ian Cohen is a Digital Advisor for Leading Edge Forum.  He holds board advisory and non-executive positions with a number of UK start-ups who are at the forefront of the current wave of digital led transformation and delivery, as well as acting in a Digital Non-Exec (DNED) capacity for several more established firms.  A ‘C level’ executive for over 15 years, Ian has been recognized by industry analysts and peers as one of the UK’s leading CIOs with a career spanning the financial services, media and technology sectors.  He has a proven track record in technology leadership, business transformation, customer/design-led innovation and operational excellence gained from a variety of commercial and IT roles in traditional and digital businesses.  Formerly the Group CIO at Jardine Lloyd Thompson (JLT) Group – one of the world's largest risk and insurance brokers – he was responsible for all aspects of JLT’s technology as well as, most recently, being the driving force behind their market leading global digital transformation programme.  Prior to joining JLT, he spent several years as CIO at Associated Newspapers (one of the UK’s largest media groups), was Global IT Director for the Financial Times, after initially joining them as CTO for, and also held leadership roles in e-Commerce at Lloyds TSB. A sought-after speaker, mentor and coach, Ian is a digital practitioner and focuses on helping large complex organizations get from where ‘they are’ to where ‘they need to be’.
