Paul Smith
Research Associate

Paul Smith, based in the UK, is a Research Associate with the LEF. His work for the LEF focuses on the role of the CIO, in relation to business and corporate strategy formulation, and how they can help create and shape new opportunities for value creation. 

Paul has over twenty years’ experience as a general manager and strategy consultant. He has extensive experience of advising on corporate strategy and strategy development processes in both the corporate and not for profit worlds and has been the COO and CFO in a software start-up. He has also lectured on creating shareholder value for executive courses at Henley Management College and on executive programmes within major corporations. Prior to becoming a consultant Paul ran the derivatives research desk at an investment bank in Tokyo and before that he worked as a demographer. He holds an MBA from London Business School and also has an MA in the Study of Contemporary Japan from the University of Essex, an MSc in Medical Demography from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and a BA in Thai & Economics from The School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London.
